Jessica Palmer died in June 2004, aged 34, of Childbed Fever. It was six days after the uncomplicated birth of her second child, Emily.
Her son, Harry, was only three when he lost his lovely mother, and still he cries for her. We know what a wonderful mother she was, and how much we miss her. We are glad to have our memories, but desperately want to help prevent another family suffering the same heartache that we have.
Childbed Fever, also called Puerperal Fever and Puerperal Sepsis, is an archaic disease that was prevalent in the 17th & 18th Centuries. There is no reason for women to still be dying from it, as its symptoms are easily recognised and easily treated with antibiotics.
Jessica's husband, Ben, has started a campaign in her name and to her memory to raise awareness of Childbed Fever, and has a petition of the 10 Downing Street website, asking the Prime Minister to "acknowledge that Childbed Fever is not a disease of the past, that it still kills mothers unnecessarily and to take positive action now to stop it."
We would be extremely grateful if you would spare a moment to sign the petition and help prevent this tragedy happening to another young family.
Further information and the link to the petition is on the website, www.jessicastrust.org.uk
God rest your soul
I have signed the petition, God bless Jessica, a senseless passing, that could have been prevented, lets hope Mr Blair listens xxx
